Remember the Light (after Marilyn McEntyre’s, ‘What to do in the Darkness’)

“What to do in the darkness?”
Remember you’re a native
of the dark—that all living
things are born of darkness

remember you used to live there
remember it’s not meant to swallow you—
it’s meant to deliver you breathless on the crest
of a wave arms aloft holding the treasure you found
buried in its deep muddy waters  be fearless  the dark is
part of you and you are nothing to be scared of  may it hurl
you into your body  eyes closed  focus inward  you know there’s
gold to be found there and calm and expansiveness capaciousness
time moves differently there “remember the light” and remember
that without darkness we wouldn’t know light  sink into your
inner wild  tune into the animal of you  I was listening to a
couple speak of neuroception earlier how the body scans
the environment for safety and lets us know what to
trust   practise trusting its sweet tells   practise
noticing them before the body has to start
screaming or seething or breaking to
get your attention  take a walk in
this dark whole if you dare—

deep healing dwells there
